The Enterprise of Brockton, Mass. www.enterprisenews.com By Maria Papadopoulos ENTERPRISE STAFF WRITER BROCKTON — Theresa Young is looking to President-elect Barack Obama as a positive role model for youth across the region. We have someone to look up to now. We can relate, said Young, 18, who is African American and a Brockton High School senior. But what is most awe-inspiring to Young, and other area and youth, is that Obama, who is bi-racial, has brought together people of all races, and not just blacks. Voters didnt look at him because he was black. They looked at him because of his views and that they could relate to his views, said Jason White, 18, a Brockton High School senior who is white. An estimated 21.6 million-23.9 million young Americans voted in Tuesdays presidential election, an increase of at least 2.2 million compared with 2004, according to national exit polls, demographic data, and projections of total numbers of votes cast.
