There is one state initiative known as Proposition 64 written to legalize the recreational use of marijuana in California and there are three marijuana initiatives for the City of Costa Mesa on the November 8th ballot.
A panel consisting of Jim Righeimer - Mayor Pro tem of Costa Mesa, Lisa M. Renati - Member of the Board of Equalization, 5th District and attorney Aaron Lachant, who specializes in federal and state healthcare laws and regulations, all spoke with the objective to inform the public. It is believed informed voters will always make the right choice. With the largest number of Sober Living Homes of any city in the country, currently over 250, Costa Mesa has been looking at ways to control the problems in our city that these homes have created. Why would anyone want to sell marijuana to the citizens that will only create a bigger need for Sober Living Homes?
The state initiative would allow adults ages 21 and older to possess, transport, and use up to an ounce of cannabis for recreational purposes and would allow individuals to grow as many as six plants.
