The Enterprise of Brockton, Mass. www.enterprisenews.com By Maria Papadopoulos ENTERPRISE STAFF WRITER BROCKTON — Watching Melanie Horris and her student, Lexie Williams, run laps together, it's hard to tell both have endured grueling cancer treatments. But they have — and both are stronger for it, so much so that Horris, 52, will run her third Boston Marathon on Monday in honor of 10-year-old Lexie. "I thought to myself, if I could do this one more time, I'd really want to do it for Lexie," said Horris, a physical education teacher at the Hancock Elementary School. Horris, a married mother of two from Easton, was diagnosed with breast cancer eight years ago in her mid-40s. After enduring intense radiation and chemotherapy treatments, she understands what Lexie, who has been battling a brain tumor since she was an infant, has been through.
